Wong’s Dragon Chinese Take Away In Poole

We’ve regularly bought our Chinese takeaways from Wongs Dragon in Oakdale Poole and have always been happy with both the quality of food and the speed of delivery.

Now they have it set up so that when you call the the first time they make a note of your telephone number and address so when you call next time they know immediately who you are and where to delivery it.

No offence to the Chinese people, but it can prove a little tiring to have to spell out your delivery address every time you place an order so their system is fantastic.

The menu is a typical Chinese menu with all the usual dishes on and the prices are very reasonable. If your order is over £10 usually they give you a freebie dish or some good old prawn crackers.

I usually order the set meal A for 1 person as it works out a great value and they will let you change the dishes a little too.

If your a Poole local or just visiting then give them a try and let us know what your thought below.

The Real China Restaurant In Poole

I took my family to The Real China in the centre of Poole on Sunday for a good old Chinese buffet as my children love going up for food as many times as they like!

It’s quite a large place and previously was a discount store and then a posh furniture store so there is plenty of room with many large table configurations.

The staff are always friendly and quick to serve you drinks and invite you to help yourself to the buffet which is nice. Actually that’s one thing I love about buffets and carvery’s is the fact that you don’t have to wait for the chef to cook your food so if your starving you can be eating in minutes!

There is a good range of traditional Chinese food including, crispy duck pancakes, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, various seafood dishes, prawn crackers you name it. I would estimate that there is around 30-40 different dishes so there is something for everyone - even chips for those hardcore English diners.

For desserts they had cup cakes, various ice creams, jelly, fruit punch and orange slices so plenty of things if you have any room left of course.

At the time of writing it costs £9.95 for adults and £5.50 for children under 140cm. An unusual way of billing for children but it does avoid the chance of people saying their kids are younger than they are I suppose (not that we ever do that of course!).

Overall I would recommend a visit to The Real China in Poole for a Chinese buffet as the food variety and standard is good.

Orchid Pavilion Chinese Restaurant Boulder

I searched the Internet whilst in Boulder for a nearby Chinese restaurant and come up with Orchid Pavilion. It was just a short drive from my hotel the Boulder Marriott.

The staff were welcoming and the restaurant seemed to have a nice atmosphere with quite a few people in so things were looking promising.

I ordered a sweet and sour chicken, vegetable fried rice and pork with vegetables for dinner and a nice glass of Californian White Zinfandel to go with it.

It took around 20 minutes for the first dish to arrive which turned out to be the Pork. However after 5 minutes no other dishes had been brought to me so I grabbed a member f staff and as it happened just as I did my food was brought over, panic over!

I was dining alone (never a great thing!) and suddenly I looked like Mr Greedy as my table was covered in enough food for two hungry people. Still it all looked great and thankfully tasted beautiful.

The staff became more attentive I felt after I had pulled them up on only being served half my dinner and they asked me at least three times during my meal if everything was ok.

All in all a great meal at a very reasonable £18 including 2 glasses of wine so I recommend the Orchid.
